you, me, and everything else….
Hmm… that’s very interesting topic Ragy. I’m happened to come from one of those countries where fake and counterfeit products are very popular. Thailand is absolutely on the list that makes tons and tons of fake products; not only sneakers but piracy stuffs includes dvd, cd, and so on.
I understand that it’s so wrong to sell those products with big brand names on it since it’s not yours. However, as an advertising student, I also understand why they’re doing it. First of all, people that buy those products can’t afford to have a real one. Second, they have a need and desire to be a part of pop culture and society. Whose idea is it that putting those brand names into people’s heads? Whose message is that telling people that their brands are the best and you need to have it?
Dont’ get me wrong. I know it is not right to purchase those counterfeits, however we should understand that everyone wanted to be a part of a pop culture. Since we are living in a branded environment and are bombarded with messages from media, it is hard to avoid those messages that encourage us to have a desire for fancy products.
It is hard earning money, it’s even harder to spend it wisely.
