you, me, and everything else….

Hmm… that’s very interesting topic Ragy. I’m happened to come from one of those countries where fake and counterfeit products are very popular. Thailand is absolutely on the list that makes tons and tons of fake products; not only sneakers but piracy stuffs includes dvd, cd, and so on.

I understand that it’s so wrong to sell those products with big brand names on it since it’s not yours. However, as an advertising student, I also understand why they’re doing it. First of all, people that buy those products can’t afford to have a real one. Second, they have a need and desire to be a part of pop culture and society. Whose idea is it that putting those brand names into people’s heads? Whose message is that telling people that their brands are the best and you need to have it?

Dont’ get me wrong. I know it is not right to purchase those counterfeits, however we should understand that everyone wanted to be a part of a pop culture. Since we are living in a branded environment and are bombarded with messages from media, it is hard to avoid those messages that encourage us to have a desire for fancy products.

It is hard earning money, it’s even harder to spend it wisely.

After today lecture about sci-fi idea, I came to realize that those thoughts were something I’ve been interested since I was a kid. “The Matrix” happenned to be one of my favorite film, besides Keanue Reeves, hehe.

When I was in a primary school, I used to submit a story in some magazine. It was about years in a future when our lives weren’t the same anymore. I totally believe, having a strong believe in Buddhism, that everythings happen for a reason. Also, those science fiction ideas of being a part of a system has not surprise me at all as, according to buddhism, everyone is a part of a system. After we died, we’ll be judged by our good and bad karma we’ve done. If we’ve done enough good things, we’ll become a part of other world, which we can see as human being. Anything we couldn’t see doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist. Therefore, there are other people, living in another world though we couldn’t see, live their lives and sometimes they might even spy on us!

After I visited Jingchen’s blog, writing about chinese prostitute in Australia, Chinese sexual industry comes under spotlight in Australia « jingchen, I realized that this issue will not disappear easily.

I’m from Thailand and as many of you will know, besides nice beaches and temples, we’re infamous for a sex industry. It’s so common in Bangkok that they’ve imported girls from other countries as if only Thai girl is not enough for them. There’re lot of places in a city you can find those sex workers right there in a downtown!!! There’s a park in a city called “Lumpini Park” where a lot of those girls will wait arond close to a street and try to get customers who drive pass. That’s very disgusting and everyone knows it. The government knows it but no one do nothing about it.

I guess at the end of the day, this issue will not go away. Just like drugs and alcohol. This kind of problems need a lot of effore and it needed to be taken seriously. I hope, as a new generation, that everyone will look into this social problem somehow and do something about it.

I’m sure everyone has some kind of obsession. According to Dictionary.com, obsession refers to the domination of one’s thoughts or feelings by a persistent idea, image, desire, etc. It could be some new hobby you just found or something you are really into at the moment.

Alright, I’ll tell you mine. Now I’m looking for a new apartment and I’ve been checking out those property website so often…well, I mean every single day. Both of them are realestate and domain. If you ever been to the website, you’ll see basicallly it’s all the same property but I’d like to visit both, in case I miss something, you know. As you know of, this time of semester is kind of busy week ‘coz most works are dued soon and I know I should be spend most of my time working on those projects. The other night I spent all night working on that thing and went to bed at 7 a.m.!!! You’ll probably wonder what I’ve been doing so late. Well, I started doing the project at 1 a.m. ‘coz I’ve been checking out those apartment all nite long. Still, I have to check it everyday and have been to many inspection, though I won’t have to move until the end of June.

What’s your obsession?
